Excerpt from the Raven

"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil!- prophet still, if bird or devil!
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-
On this home by Horror haunted- tell me truly, I implore-
Is there- is there balm in Gilead?- tell me- tell me, I implore!"
Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."

The Raven, Edgar Allen Poe
Gustave Dore art "Is there Balm in Gilead?"

Never understood why people thought that was scary. I mean you can't understand what he's saying and it's a freakin bird! Adam wouldn't even be scared of that and he's 4. Now Freddy Krueger..that's scary

interesting thought. i'm sure whatever skimpy underpaid hollywood producer decided to sell us the freddy krueger series (really...freddy scares you?)probably wet his bed in fear over thoughts of that bird. just sayin. the lyrics are creepy, oozing with metaphor. ravens have been symbols of all sorts of craziness for centuries. freddie just doesnt cut it. peanuts halloween special is more disturbing than fred.

Are you really trying to go there with me? When Freddy came out and I was like 14 yeah it was scary, adn when you were that age I guarantee you it would have scared you too. Even though you made a lame attempt and trying to act like it doesn't. You can't honestly tell me that an ancient story about a bird is more frightening than some of today's horror movies. IF so your a goob....Try not going anonymous next time...
